Between Bark Bay and Awaroa Bay in the Abel Tasman National Park you’ll discover the Tonga Island Marine Reserve. The playful seal population that bathe ostentatiously on the rocks offer the first glimpse into the abundance of marine life that you’ll discover around Tonga Island, and beneath the surface is a thriving environment of red rock crabs, crayfish, snapper, hermits and kina. With something for all ages and abilities whether it be snorkeling or free diving between Tonga Quarry and Foul Point or scuba or freediving around the rewarding Tonga Island reefs,there is always something to be seen and photographed in the reserve.
